Southern Fulton 41 Meyersdale 19

Meyersdale, Pa. – Southern Fulton (1-0) made the long trip to Meyersdale and downed the Red Raiders 41 to 19 in a non league matchup. Abby Fischer led the Indians with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals. Lindsey Hollenshead had 3 assists and Kenadee Morton and Reanna Rice each had 3 steals. Southern Fulton Coach Joe Hollenshead commented, “Our girls played tremendous defense once the nerves of the first game settled and we had balanced scoring tonight.” JV – SF 30 MHS 5. (SF – Emma Wilson 10 points) Southern Fulton returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to Northern Bedford for a 6:00 start.

Shade 63 Forbes Road 54

Central City, Pa. – Forbes Road (0-1) traveled to Shade High School and fell 63-54 in a non league contest. Quincey McMath and Hannah Skiles led the Cardinals with 18 points. McMath also pulled down 14 rebounds. Morgan Zimmerman with 24 points (14-15 from the line) led the Panthers and Taylor Rapsky had 17 points, while Jenna Muha added 14 points. Cardinal Coach Jamie Gelvin commented, “What an intense game to kick off the season!  We got into a lot of foul trouble and hurt ourselves, but still had a chance at the end of the game. With a little over a minute to go down 5 we got good looks at 2 open 3’s but missed them both.  We hurt ourselves by missing some free-throws, but still had a chance to come back late. I was pleased with the kids’ effort tonight and the never give up attitude that they showed. It was also great to see the freshmen step up and contribute, when we needed them.” Forbes Road will travel to Northern Bedford on Monday for a 6:00 start.

McConnellsburg 53 Mount Union 44

Mount Union, Pa. – McConnellsburg (1-0) took a 32 to 18 lead into the half and didn’t look back as they traveled to Mt. Union and opened their season with a win 53 to 44. Kendal Truax led the Spartans with 17 points. Katelyn Truax and Matty Ross added 15 and 11 respectively. McConnellsburg outrebounded Mt. Union 39 to 25. JV – MHS 31 – MU 22 (MHS – Nevaeh Early and Bryonna Ross 8 points) McConnellsburg returns to action on Monday, when they travel to Southern Huntingdon for a 6:00 start.

Tussey Mt. 65 Forbes Road 29

Waterfall, Pa. – Matt Leonard led all scorers as the Titans of Tussey Mt. traveled to Forbes Road and dominated the Cardinals 65 to 29. Devin Swope added 15 points and Chad Morningstar chipped in 12 points in the win. Wyatt McGowan, Shane Schepis, and Brady Skinner all had 6 points for Forbes Road. The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, when they host Northern Bedford at 6:00.
