The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers scored twice within the game’s first three minutes and went on to rout New Life Christian 11-0 Tuesday in the first round of the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference playoffs.
The No. 2-seeded Blazers (12-6-1) will host third-seeded Shalom Christian Thursday in the MDCC semifinals. Shalom defeated Heritage Academy 2-1 on Tuesday.
Kenneth Hott drilled in four goals and added two assists to lead the Blazers, who piled up a 4-0 halftime lead and pretty much kept New Life bottled up in its end of the field. The Blazers scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half, and coach Stan Hott substituted liberally from late in the first half on.
“Kenneth had a good game,” Stan Hott said. “Our underclassmen were able to step up and play a little over half of the game.”
Mario Wiesman scored two goals and collected two assists for the Blazers. Also providing goals were Caleb Eckert, Max Crawford, Ryan Winters, Josh Rowe and Isaac Kauffeldt. Crawford and Rowe each had two assists, while Winters and Eckert each contributed one.
