McConnellsburg, Pa. – A large crowd came to McConnellsburg to see traditional District V soccer powers battle it out. The McConnellsburg Spartans (16-0, 9-0 ICC) did not disappoint their fans as they defeated Fannett Metal (10-5, 5-3 ICC) 4 to 0. Xavier Buterbaugh started the scoring for the Spartans with the only first half goal. McConnellsburg broke the game open in the second half with goals from Landon Seiders, Garrett Bunch, and Javier Artega. Fannett Metal Coach Tom Otis commented, “We had a good first half but struggled in the 2nd.  McConnellsburg attacked with great speed and intensity. They are a very good team.” McConnellsburg will host St. Maria Goretti on Monday at 7:00 while Fannett Metal will travel to Everett for a 7:00 start.
