Second-half goals propel Blazers to win

HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers broke a halftime tie with a pair of second-half goals and defeated Heritage Academy 3-1 Thursday in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys soccer game.

The Blazers (8-4-2, 6-2-2 MDCC) moved a step closer to securing the No. 2 seed in the MDCC playoffs later this month. They have a return match at home against Heritage and a game at winless New Life next week, and victories in those games would place them second behind Calvary Christian.

Thursday’s game was tied 1-1 at the half as the Blazers gave up a goal for the first time in their last four games.

Kenneth Hott scored a goal and added an assist for the Blazers. Ryan Winters and Mario Wiesman added goals, and Elijah Randolph and Isaac Kauffeldt contributed assists.

Goalkeeper Jack Gabler made 10 saves for the Blazers, who led 5-3 in corner kicks.
