JB football looks to end 3-game skid

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a month since the James Buchanan Rockets have scored a touchdown.

So Friday night the Rockets hope to bring and end to their end zone dry spell as they visit the St. John’s Prospect Hall Vikings at McCurdy Field in Frederick, Md.

JB (2-3) has not only lost its last 3 games, but it hasn’t scored a point since 7:27 of the fourth quarter of 22-20 win over Fairfield on Sept. 6. Over the last 3 weeks the Rockets have lost 35-0, 42-0 and 24-0 to Clear Spring, Md. last Friday.

“We have to come ready to play and execute,” JB coach David Miller said. “The last three weeks we have lacked intensity and fire. Last week, overall, we didn’t execute at all. I wouldn’t necessarily say Clear Spring wanted it more, but they executed.”

St. John’s comes into the game 2-2, including a 42-22 loss to Central Md. Christian last week.

“They’re not a bad team at all, but if we execute and depending on which team shows up, we should be all right,” Miller said.

The Rockets will have QB Sebastian Wise back after missing last week’s game with a concussion. JB will also have a new center, freshman Camron Pine. Dalton Bock, who has been at center, will move to guard to replace Shawn Reed, who is out with a hand injury.

“It should help having Sebastian back,” Miller said. “And if we can get good snaps to him it should help.”
