Field Hockey 10/1/19 Cardinals Roll Over the Bearcats

Forbes Road 7 Huntingdon 0

The Forbes Road field hockey team (9-1) met up with the visiting Huntingdon Bearcats on Tuesday afternoon. The teams took to the field following senior recognition activities. Fittingly, all three Cardinal seniors tallied goals during the hot afternoon match up.

Senior Harlie Strait started the day off just under five minutes in with the first of her four goals on a pass from Quincy McMath. Her second goal came on a penalty corner play shortly thereafter set up for by senior teammates Hailey Dodson and Shelby Harnish. With just 8 seconds remaining in the first half Dodson would capitalize on her own scoring opportunity by scooping up a loose ball rebounded off Bearcat keeper Madison Burkey.  The Cardinal stickers earned 8 penalty corners and 14 shots in the first 30 minutes of play.

It didn’t take long for the Cardinal attack to get back under way in the second half. Dodson would score her second goal on a centered ball from Madison Hays during penalty corner action at the 15 minute mark.  Harnish struck with the final score of the match assisted by Strait with 5 minutes remaining.

The Bearcats were able to progress downfield late in the game to earn one penalty corner but the tough cardinal defense denied any shot at goal. No JV game was played.
