When the McConnellsburg Boy’s Soccer team defeated Everett on Monday evening, not only did the Spartans keep their undefeated season in tact, but it gave Coach Cory Houck his 100th win. Houck serving in his eighth year as the Head Coach has an impressive 100-35-5 career record. Coach Houck started in the junior high soccer program at McConnellsburg and assumed the varsity position in 2012. A 2003 alumni of MHS, Houck came up through the system and continued their tradition of soccer excellence.
McConnellsburg Athletic Director Ken Welsh made these observations, “Cory and Assistant Coach Jake Corle run an intense practice. They work so well together. Cory is a student of the game and we are very happy to have him on our sideline.” Fannett Metal Athletic Director and former head soccer coach Greg Best said, “Cory’s teams are always very disciplined, skilled, and come ready to play. He relates well with his players and his teams are continually strong year in and year out. We had a great rivalry and we had mutual respect for each other.” Coach Houck is employed at the Fulton County Medical Center in the position of Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist. He lives in McConnellsburg with his wife Danielle and sons, Bennett age six and Brooks age one.
