GIRLS SOCCER
Chambersburg 1, State College 0: A goal by Ahsia Thomas with 26 minutes to go lifted the Trojans to a 1-0 Mid Penn Commonwealth victory on Thursday night at Trojan Stadium.

Gianna Weigel
It was the fourth straight victory for the Trojans (6-4, 4-3 MPC), including a pair of 1-0 win over the Little Lions.
“It makes a coach proud to see the girls playing with such positive energy, playing together and supporting each other,” Chambersburg coach Ed Franchi said. “It was another complete game — creating multiple opportunities and limiting quality opportunities to the opposition.”
Katarina Betris sent a long ball toward Thomas and she beat a defender to the ball before scoring the goal.
Franchi said, “She just wanted the ball more than the defender.”
Annie Metzger made 6 saves in the first half for the Trojans, and Faith Johnson made 5 in the second to preserve the shutout.
“I thought Gianna Weigel did a real nice job controlling the middle tonight,” Franchi said.
