The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers engaged in some tight games but dropped a 3-1 decision to Carroll Christian Friday in a non-league girls volleyball match.
The Blazers (2-2) earned a victory in the first game by a 25-18 score, but Carroll rallied for a 25-13 victory in the second game. Carroll then won two close games by scores of 25-23 and 28-26 to take the match.
“Tonight was an all-around team effort,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “Even though we did not win the match, we fought hard and had two very close sets. Six of our players had a block tonight, and that is a big accomplishment. We are getting hands on the ball at the net, and that helps out our back-row defenders.”
For the Blazers, stat leaders were Regan Bard with 19 assists, Emilee Beam with seven kills and seven digs, and Ryleigh Timmons with 18 digs.
Also, Morgan Householder had seven digs, Kerri Potteiger contributed six digs, four kills, four assists and three aces, Beam provided three aces, and Niki Schussler registered four kills, two digs and two aces.
