The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers battled back from a 2-1 game deficit and defeated Shalom Christian 3-2 Thursday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball match.
The Blazers (2-1, 2-1 MDCC) lost the first game by a tight 25-22 margin but rallied to take the second game 25-12. After Shalom won the third game 25-19, the Blazers pulled out the match by earning game victories of 25-18 and 15-9.
“It’s always an exciting match when we play Shalom, and tonight was no exception,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “We started off a little rocky and our passing was less than par, but we picked it up for game two to even the score. Both teams had some great defensive saves tonight.”
Ryleigh Timmons had 23 digs and Emilee Beam had a solid night with 19 kills. Regan Bard contributed 35 assists for the match.
Also on the CVCS stat sheet were Morgan Householder with seven kills and nine digs, Olivia Russell with four kills and four aces, Kerri Potteiger with nine kills, four digs, four assists and six aces, and Kendra Bard with three kills and two blocks. Beam added five digs and four aces, and Timmons had four aces.
Shalom won the JV match 2-0.
