Greencastle 10U wins District 14 Championship

Trailing  8-1 after two innings, Greencastle 10U scored eight runs over the the final four innings to defeat Newville 9-8 and become District 14 Champions and earn a berth in the Section 7 tournament at Exeter Township.

Greencastle grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double from Landon Myers, then Newville erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-1 lead.

Greencastle came back with a six run top of the fourth, Cam Rakaczewski and Chase Miller had RBI doubles to make it 8-3, two more runs scored on an error to cut the margin to 8-5, Manny Brookens single made it 8-6 and Diller knocked in the sixth run of the inning with a single to pull Greencastle within a run at 8-7.

In the sixth inning Landon Myers hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 8-8 and Chase Diller followed with an RBI single to put Greencastle ahead 9-8.

Cam Rakaczewski pitched the final five innings to get the victory for Greencastle. Diller lead Greencastle with three hits and three RBI, Rakaczewski had two hits and two RBI.

Greencastle will play the District 28 champions Tuesday July 16 in Stonersville, PA at 6:00 p.m. in the double elimination tournament.
