Northeastern eliminates Greencastle 12U with 8-4 win, 10U wins to stay alive

Facing their fourth straight elimination game Greencastle came up short falling to Northeastern 8-4 at South Middleton Monday night 8-4. With the win Northeastern captured the District 14 Championship and will advance to the Section 7 tournament at Exeter Township beginning July 13.

Greencastle got their only lead in the top of the first on an RBI single by Avery Horst to go up 1-0.

Notheastern came back to take a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second on a 2 run single by Drew Barshinger and an RBI single by Ryle Nade Bishop. Northeastern made it 6-1 with a three run third on an RBI ground out by Zach Ball, a run scoring double from Mychael Sartalis, and a double from Mitchell Moser.They also added a run in both the fourth and fifth innings on a steal of home from Brandon Charleston in the fourth and a steal of home by Sartalis in the fifth.

Greencastle got solo runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings on an RBI single from Trey Dougherty, an RBI groundout by Zach Paris, and a sacrifice fly from Bo Brookens.

Trey Dougherty had two hits for Greencastle.

Greencastle finishes District 14 tournament play with a record of 6-3.

10U: Greencastle 10U defeated Dillsburg 8-2 to remain alive in the District 14 Tournament and will play undefeated Newville Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. at Newville. Greencastle can force a deciding game Wednesday with a win.
