The Greencastle 12U Little League All Stars rolled to a 10-0 win over host Dillsburg at Ryder Field Monday night in the first round of the District 14 Double Elimination Tournament. For the third time in tournament play Greencastle shortened a game with the ten run rule.
Greencastle got another strong performance from Carter McCauley who went the first four innings of the game and did not allow a run, scattered three hits, striking out six and walking three, throwing 63 pitches.
JD Flynn had 4 RBI with a long two run homer, and a two run double, Carter McCauley went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Ben Horst was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, Avery Horst went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Greencastle also got base hits from Zach Paris and Bregon Patterson.
Greencastle got the only run they would need in the bottom of the first to take a 1-0 lead, then erupted for five runs in the second inning to go up 6-0. Greencastle then ended it with a four run fifth inning.
Greencastle will play Carlisle Tuesday night at Ryder Field in Dillsburg at 8:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast at www.midpennbroadcasting.com Carlisle is 2-0 and earned a first round bye in the six team tournament. Dillsburg will play in a losers bracket game Wednesday July 3 at Southern York County.
NOTES: Carter McCauley is 2-0 has pitched nine shutout innings allowing just four hits, striking out 14 and walking five batters….Greencastle has committed just one error in four games… JD Flynn is 9 for 14, with two homers, two doubles, a triple and 11 RBI…Greencastle is 3-1 and has outscored their opponents 40-5.

11U: The Greencastle 11U All Stars lost to South Middleton 6-4 Monday night at Clary Field in Greencastle and will play an elimination game Wednesday at Clary Field in Greencastle.
