The Greencastle Little League All Stars scored early and often in the District 14 Little League International Tournament cruising to a 17-2 win over Newville at South Middleton Saturday night.
Greencastle scored in every inning and put the game away with a seven run fourth inning , at which point the 10 run rule took effect.
Ben Horst went 3 for 4 including a two run double in the first inning, and a three double in the second inning, JD Flynn had two hits including a long two run homer to center field. Spencer Doyle easily cleared the center field fence with with a three run homer in the fourth inning.
Nine of the 13 Greencastle hits were for extra bases, 10 Greencastle players recorded hits in the game.
Avery Horst pitched the first three innings to earn the win, allowing just one run, three hits, one walk and recorded six strikeouts.
Aeden Magni and Brexton Heckenoorn had run scoring singles for Newville. Newville is now 0-2 after losing to Shippensburg 16-2 on Friday.
Greencastle (1-0) will play host South Middleton (1-0) on Monday night at 6:00 p.m. South Middleton defeated Shippensburg (1-1) 3-2 in the first game Saturday in eight innings. The game was scoreless through the first seven innings, Shippensburg plated a pair of runs in the top of the eighth, South Middleton rallied for three in the bottom of the eighth.
