The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers put together a six-run second inning and held on to beat Heritage Academy 9-5 Tuesday in a Mason-Dixon Christian quarterfinal baseball game.
The Blazers (4-9) advanced to the MDCC Final Four and will play at top-seeded Grace Academy on Thursday.
The Blazers trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, but quickly loaded the bases on an infield hit, a walk and a hit batter. Caden Rosenberry, Caleb Fisler and Jimmy Hong delivered clutch RBI hits during the uprising.
Heritage came within 6-3 in the fifth inning, but the Blazers scored an unearned run on an errant pickoff throw to go up 7-3. The Eagles trimmed the lead to 7-4 in the top of the sixth, but Hong cracked a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth to increase the lead to 9-4.
Heritage scored a run on three hit batters and a walk in the seventh inning, but the Blazers turned a 6-4-3 double play with the bases loaded to end the game.
Carson Hull picked up the victory by pitching six solid innings. Fisler relieved Josiah Ziebarth and hit two batters to force in the run before inducing the game-ending double-play grounder.
