GIRLS LACROSSE
Carlisle 9, Chambersburg 8: The Trojans fought back to tie the game, but Carlisle scored the game-winner with less than two minutes left on the clock for a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Monday evening.

“Our defense worked really hard as a unit and our goalie (Kenna Shearer) had some stunning and accurate clears to our high attackers,” Chambersburg coach Keara Allshouse said. “The girls hustled and worked really hard.

“It truly amazes me how far we have come as a team and how much we have grown this season. One of the referees complimented our defense after the game, saying that’s it’s come a long way this year.”

Emma Grimm led the offense for the Trojans (2-12, 0-6 MPC) with four goals, Ashlyn Bothe tallied three times and Ashley Bawell also found the net.

Allshouse said, “Kirsten Gerhart was the defensive MVP and really put solid pressure on their offensive players.”

Carlisle is 7-9 (2-4 MPC).

BOYS LACROSSE
Carlisle 17, Chambersburg 8: The Thundering Herd totally dominated Chambersburg in the second half and rolled to a Mid Penn Commonwealth victory Monday night.

The game was 6-5 in favor of the Herd (8-8, 4-3 MPC) at halftime, but they outscored the Trojans 6-0 in the third. Chambersburg (8-7, 4-3 MPC) had a six-game win streak halted, and likely had its hopes for a District 3 playoff berth dashed.

“We got murdered on face-offs (19-7), looked out of sorts on defense and didn’t shoot well — hitting the pipes three times early,” Trojan coach Paul Flohr said. “Disappointed is an understatement.”

Haden Ocker had three goals and an assist, Thomas Elia scored three goals, Grayson Hopple had a goal and an assist and Aidan Brechbill notched a goal.

Nash Bothe had five ground balls and Ocker and Hopple each had five. Goalie Angel Santos made 10 saves.
