Shippensburg baseball routs Greencastle 12-4, Lady Blue Devils 7-2 winner over Lady Hounds

BASEBALL: Shippensburg scored in all but one inning to defeat the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils at Shippensburg Tuesday 12-4. Jacob Frey led the way for the Greyhounds going 4 for 4 with two doubles a triple and 3 RBI.

Greencastle jumped out to a 3-0 lead on an Ethan Miller three run homer in the top of the first inning. The Greyhounds roared back with a five run bottom of the first and never looked back.. Frey lead off with a triple. After a walk to to Scott Witter the Greyhounds got their first run on a double steal with Witter going to second and Frey stealing home. Christian Melendez then singled in a run. Logan Martin singled with Melendez scoring on the throw to tie the game a 3-3. After a run scored on a wild pitch to push the Greyhounds ahead to stay at 4-3, Chandler Durf’s infield single made it 5-3 Shippensburg.

A bases loaded walk and a sacrifice bunt produced two more runs in the second.The Greyhounds added solo runs in the third and fifth innings and three in the sixth.

Ethan Stouffer picked up the win for Shippensburg going 5 2/3 innings allowing four runs on six hits, striking out eight. Jacob Frey had four hits for the Greyhounds and Chandler Durf two.

Greencastle falls to 2-3 on the season and will travel to Inwood, WV to play the Musselman Applemen in a non league game Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. and then host Chambersburg Friday at 4:15 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Mid Penn Broadcasting

Shhippensburg evened its record at 3-3 and will host East Pennsboro Friday at 4:15 p.m.

SOFTBALL: The Greencastle-Antrim Lady Blue Devils won their fourth consecutive game to start the season defeating Shippensburg 7-2 at Greencastle Tuesday as the Greyhounds fall to 3-2. Haley Dawson went the distance for the Lady Blue Devils allowing two runs and five hits and registering three strikeouts.

Kylie Cunningham had three hits and two RBI for the Blue Devils, Hailey Long had two hits, a two RBI triple and a double, and Molly Ronzo a pair of run scoring singles.

Shippensburg’s only runs came in the top of the fourth on run scoring singles by Zoe Holtry and Rachel Kline.

The Lady Blue Devils return to action Friday traveling to Chambersburg for a 4:15 p.m. game which can be heard on Mid Penn Broadcasting

The Lady Greyhounds travel to Central Dauphin Saturday for an 11:00 a.m. non league game.
