Girl’s District V Playoff Results 2/26/19

Shanksville 60 Fannett Metal 26

Bedford, Pa. -Fannett-Metal (16-7) traveled to Bedford High School to take on Shanksville in District 5 A Semifinal girls basketball action and fell by a score of 60-26.  The Tigers were outscored in every quarter except the 4th and struggled to find much offensive rhythm all night.  Fannett Metal got scoring from Hartman 16, Johns 4, M Ritchey 4, and K Ritchey 2.  Freshman Josie Snyder led the Vikings with 14 points and Sidney Stutzman added 13. Fannett Metal’s season is still alive as they will travel to the Pitt- Johnstown on Saturday at 1 pm for a chance to quality for the state tournament.  Fannett-Metal the 4 seed will battle Tussey Mt. the 3 seed. Shanksville (21-3) will also play on Saturday when they match up against a familiar foe, Berlin, in the District V Class A Championship at Pitt- Johnstown at 4:00. Shanksville has beat the Mountaineers in both matchups this year but has lost to Berlin in the last 2 championship games.

Windber 57 Southern Fulton 30

Windber, Pa. – Southern Fulton traveled to the District V Class AA second seeded Windber Ramblers (21-3) and dropped their semifinal playoff game 57 to 30. Windber jumped out to a 9 to 0 lead and went into halftime with a 30 to 18 edge. Rambler Senior Marideth Tokarsky picked up her 1,000 point in the third quarter on their way to the victory. Lindsey Hollenshead led the Indians with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks. Jessie Colvalt added 7 points. Drew Gordon had 7 rebounds and 4 points, while Abby Fischer had 5 points and 3 steals. Windber had four girls hit double digits; Tokarsky and Amanda Cominsky led with13 points each, Makaela Cominsky finished with 12 points and Alayna Elliott added 10. Windber will move on and play top seeded Everett in the District V Class AA Championship at Pitt-Johnstown on Friday evening at 6:30. Southern Fulton ends their season with a 16 and 8 record.
