Blazers hand Faith 10-point loss

Cumberland Valley Christian sophomore Blaine Minnier erupted for a career-high 30 points to lead the Blazers to a 48-38 victory over Faith Christian Friday night in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball game.

Minnier scored 14 points in the first quarter as the Blazers (6-11, 4-5 MDCC) bolted to a 21-6 lead. He scored nine of their 10 points in the fourth quarter as the Blazers held off Faith, which trimmed the margin to four points late in the game. Minnier finished 10-of-11 from the foul line, including 6-for-6 in the final period.

Sophomore Caleb Eckert grabbed 17 rebounds and handed out six assists for the Blazers.

“Obviously Blaine had a monster game and Caleb controlled the boards,” Blazers coach Austin Sanders said. “This was a collective team win. I felt like everyone contributed in a positive way. It was a great team win. I’m very proud of our effort.”

Kenneth Hott led the team with three steals, including a big steal in the last minute, as the Blazers forced 21 turnovers while committing only 12.

Also scoring for the Blazers were Eckert, Hott, Triston Horn and Isaac Kauffeldt with four points each and Nathan Statler with two.
