The James Buchanan Lady Rockets used a good defensive first quarter to help pull out a 37-34 win over Big Spring Tuesday in a Mid Penn Colonial Division girls basketball game.
JB (6-6) outscored Big Spring 13-3 in the opening quarter, but the Bulldogs rallied in the fourth quarter and went up by one point, but the Lady Rockets scored quickly and never trailed.
“The girls played very hard and worked well together,” JB coach Jenny Lauthers said. “Cass (Martin) got a steal in the final 10 seconds that helped secure the win.”
Maggie Strawoet led JB with 14 points and Martin finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
