Chambersburg graduate Marshay Ryan has been elected to the Pennsylvania High School Track & Field Hall of Fame.
Ryan was a highly-accomplished jumper who graduated in 2013 and went on to compete for Auburn in the Southeastern Conference.
She was a three-time PIAA Class 3A champion in the long jump (in 2011, 2012 and 2013), and also the PIAA triple jump champion in 2012 and 2013.
In the National Scholastic Outdoor Championships in North Carolina in 2012, she placed second in the country, and was named to the fourth team in the triple jump by Track & Field News in 2012.
Ryan also competed indoors, and in 2013 was the indoor state champion (PTFCA) in both the long and triple jumps.
The induction will take place Feb. 24 during the PTFCA’s indoor state championships at Penn State.
The Hall of Fame was established in 1995 and a selection committee of more than 24 coaches, officials and journalists end up choosing the members. Each year, between 6 to 12 athletes, one coach, one contributor and one distinguished alumnus are inducted.
