Shippensburg wins in double overtime 97-93

The Shippensburg Greyhounds captured the Greyhound Invitational Championship with a thrilling 97-93 double overtime victory over the Octorara Braves Friday night at Shippensburg. A night after the Greyhounds won on Adam Houser’s layup at the buzzer to defeat Susquehanna Township 60-59 the Greyhounds proved they were ready for another challenge. Lead by  by tournament MVP Collin Taylor’s 38 points Shippensburg scored 97 points in the down to the wire win over Octorara  in a game that had 190 points between the two teams.

Shippensburg held a 17-10 lead after the first quarter, lead at the half 40-35, trailed after three quarters 59-56, the game was tied at 76 at the end of regulation, each team scored eight points in the first overtime, the Greyhounds outscored Octoroara 13-9 in the second OT to seal the victory.

In addition to Taylor’s 38 points, the Greyhounds had three more players reach double digits, Jayden Statum with 21, Adam Houser 13, Anthony Smith 11. Jacob Frey had nine points (seven coming in overtime), Jeremy Thomas five. Shippensburg shot 22 of 29 from the foul line.

Octorara placed four  players in double figures, Keith Lambert with 29 points, Phillip Brandon 16, Alex Lance 14, Matt Keating 13, Naji Hamilton 12.

The  Greyhounds improve to 6-2 with the win while, Octorara falls to 4-5.

In the consolation game Susquehanna Township defeated Delone Catholic 73-49
