Central Dauphin sweeps Trojans in basketball

BOYS BASKETBALL
Central Dauphin 57, Chambersburg 50: Darrien Bemos-Riveria popped in 20 points to lead the Rams over the Trojans in a Mid Penn Commonwealth boys basketball game Friday night at CD.

Bemos-Riveria had 8 points in the first period when Central Dauphin (6-0, 4-0 MPC) took a 17-8 lead, and knocked down two of his five 3-pointers in the fourth period.

The Trojans were able to tie the game in the final quarter, but CD then pulled away. Ben Stubljar was 5-for-6 from the line in that period.

For Chambersburg (4-3, 2-2 MPC), Terell Williams led with 14 points, Tyler Collier had 13 and Ethan Shreffler scored 11.

The Trojans got back to within 25-23 by halftime, then fell behind by 10 entering the fourth before mounting a comeback. In the final quarter, Williams had 7 points and Collier 6. The team hit only 6 of 15 free throws.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Central Dauphin 69, Chambersburg 25: The short-handed Trojans did not match up well with a strong team of Rams and dropped a Mid Penn Commonwealth game Friday night at CASHS Field House.

Already without point guard Robyn Stepler — out for the season with a knee injury — Chambersburg played without starting guard Erin Pattillo and starting center Ashley Adams.

The result was predictable, with Central Dauphin (6-1, 4-0 MPC) taking a 30-11 lead at halftime and expanding it with a 30-8 bulge in the third period.

Sydney Schmus led the Trojans (2-5, 1-3 MPC) with 8 points, Madi Flythe had 6 and Marlee Wrights 5.

Sam Gress scored 16 of her 20 points in the first half for CD.
