CARLISLE — Madi Flythe popped in a career-high 17 points to lift Chambersburg to a 37-28 Mid Penn Commonwealth girls basketball victory on the road Wednesday night.

Flythe scored five points in the first quarter, eight in the third when the Trojans (2-4, 1-2 MPC) took over the lead by outscoring the Thundering Herd 11-6, and four more in the fourth, when Chambersburg pulled away with a 14-6 advantage.

Of Flythe’s six field goals, four were 3-pointers.

“Madi had a really good night shooting the ball,” Trojan coach Barry Purvis said. “And we played really good defense in the second half.”

Marlee Wrights chipped in 7 points for Chambersburg, including five in the final period.

The Trojans were a dismal 7-for-25 (28%) from the free throw line, but Carlisle (2-3, 0-3 MPC) made only 8 of 20 at the line (40%).

The win snapped a four-game losing skid for Chambersburg.

Purvis said, “It was a good win — not pretty — but any win for us is a good win, and we’ll take it.”
