The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers fell into an early hole and dropped a 74-45 decision to Broadfording Christian Academy Tuesday in their Mason-Dixon Christian Conference boys basketball opener.
The Blazers (0-4, 0-1 MDCC) could get nothing going early as Broadfording scored the game’s first nine points and ran to a 24-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Blazers pulled within 10 in the second quarter and stayed within 34-22 at halftime, but Broadfording pulled away with a 40-point second half.
Caleb Eckert led the Blazers with 17 points and eight rebounds, and fellow sophomore Blaine Minnier was right behind with 16 points. Triston Horn and Nathan Statler scored four points each, Isaac Kauffeldt had three and Ken Hott one to round out the CVCS scoring.
Izaiah Dillinger led Broadfording with 22 points.
The Blazers were outrebounded 45-22 and committed 25 turnovers.
