The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers continued their defensive dominance by defeating Broadfording Christian Academy 31-25 Tuesday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls basketball game.
The Blazers (3-0, 1-0 MDCC) have held all of their opponents under 30 points.
“We forced 33 turnovers and I loved our pressure defense once again,” Blazers coach Dylan Ward said. “I was impressed with Laurel Reitz and Jalen Moats. They pressured their guards and took charges down the stretch, which helped us shut them out in the fourth quarter.”
Amber Yanosik led the Blazers (3-0, 1-0 MDCC) with 16 points. Kyleigh Teal added six points, Laurel Reitz four, Jalen Moats three and Keagan Yarboro two.
Broadfording scored the first seven points of the game but the Blazers came back to take a 17-15 lead at halftime. The game was 26-25 entering the fourth quarter, but Broadfording never scored again.
In other stats, Moats grabbed 12 rebounds and made five steals, Reitz collected four steals and handed out three assists, and Yanosik came up with four steals.
