BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers put together a second-half rally to defeat Rosedale Baptist 36-29 and win the Rosedale Baptist girls basketball tournament Saturday.
The Blazers (2-0) trailed 21-12 at halftime but held the Panthers to only eight second-half points.
“We used dominating defense to do it,” Blazers coach Dylan Ward said. “Our 1-3-1 defense along with our press was tough to beat.”
Tournament MVP Amber Yanosik led the Blazers with 11 points. Yanosik, a freshman, also contributed five steals and five rebounds. Blazers Laurel Reitz and Kyleigh Teal also made the all-tournament team. Reitz had six points and nine rebounds, while Teal added six points and eight rebounds.
Also breaking into the scoring column for the Blazers were Jalen Moats with six points and seven rebounds, Keagan Yarboro with five points and eight rebounds and Sarah Vandersleen with two points.
