Huntingdon, Pa. The Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey team (16-1-1) finished up their regular season play Tuesday afternoon on the road against the Huntingdon Bearcats. The match, previously scheduled for October 11, had to be rescheduled due to rain.
The Cardinals jumped out in the lead early when they scored on a penalty corner play. Mara Broadwater received a pass from Hailey Dodson and shoved the ball into the goal with just under four minutes off the clock. The Cardinals would hammer away in the circle for pretty much the remainder of the first half earning a total of 10 penalty corners and tallying 13 shots. Bearcat goalie, Mikayla Cummings, racked up 12 saves in the first 30 minutes of play.
The second 30 minutes played out much like the first half with the Cardinals dominating in the circle. The Cardinals would finally capitalize by scoring on another penalty corner with 10 minutes left in the half. Emma Gelvin’s pass from the right side of the circle found the awaiting stick of Shelby Harnish. Harnish slipped the ball past Cummings to earn the final score of the game. The Bearcats were unable to earn any shot attempts at goal in the match.

These two teams will meet up again in the District 6 Championship final next Wednesday, October 31 at 6 pm. The game will be played at Bald Eagle Area High School.
