The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers advanced to the Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball semifinals by defeating Broadfording 3-1 Tuesday evening in a quarterfinal playoff match.
The Blazers, the No. 1 seed entering the playoffs, got an early scare when they dropped the first game to eighth-seeded Broadfording 25-20. However, the Blazers (18-4) came back to win a tight second game, 25-22, before rolling to victories of 25-16 and 25-15.
The Blazers will play fifth-seeded Heritage in the semifinals Thursday at home. Heritage swept fourth-seeded Grace Academy in three games Tuesday.
For the Blazers, Mackenzie Householder and Emilee Beam again led the way. Householder had 29 assists, 11 digs and 2 kills, while Beam contributed 16 kills and 8 digs.
Also for CVCS, Tahra Kennedy had 11 kills and 4 aces, Hunter Timmons 4 kills, 3 digs, 3 blocks and 2 aces, Taylor Heck 2 assists, Kaitlin Provard 2 kills and 2 blocks, Ryleigh Timmons 16 digs and 3 aces, Isabel Beard 3 digs and 3 aces, Kerri Potteiger 7 digs and 3 aces, and Niki Schussler and Olivia Russell 1 kill and 1 dig each.
