Waterfall, Pa. – The Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey Team (13-1) hosted Hempfield Area in a non-league match Friday afternoon.  The Cardinals took their attack to the circle early earning penalty corners and scoring opportunities very quickly after the starting whistle.  Mara Broadwater was able to land her first goal at around the 5 minute mark on an assist from Harlie Strait.  Minutes later, Quincy McMath would capitalize on a centered pass also coming from Strait.  The Cardinals pounded away on Hempfield’s goalie repeatedly for the remainder of the half with Broadwater fielding a loose ball off the pads and shoving it into the goal for the final goal of the half.  The Cardinal attackers tallied 21 shots during the first half.

The Cardinals dominated the second half much like they did for the first 30 minutes of play, but were only able to find the cage one more time.  The final goal came on a perfectly executed penalty corner set into motion by corner inserter, Hailey Dodson.  Dodson inserted the ball to the awaiting stick of Shelby Harnish.  Harnish launched a hard direct shot through the approaching defenders, past the goalie and right into the cage untouched.  The Spartans earned one penalty corner of their own during the game but were unable to earn a single shot on goal.
