Blazers sink Shalom in 4 games

The Cumberland Valley Christian Blazers battled Shalom Christian Academy to the wire in four tense games and came away with a 3-1 victory Tuesday evening in a Mason-Dixon Christian Conference girls volleyball match.

After the first two games, the match was tied at a game apiece as CVCS won the first game 25-23 and Shalom the second 27-25. The Blazers (17-2, 12-0 MDCC) took game three 25-23 before wrapping up the match with a 30-28 overtime victory in game four.

“Last night was a very exciting match,” Blazers coach Carole Rosenberry said. “Each set had a rough start, but we were able to come from behind and work hard for the win. With each win, it becomes more evident that we cannot do this as individuals. ONLY working as a team have we been successful.”

For the Blazers, Mackenzie Householder had 39 assists, 2 digs and 2 aces; Emilee Beam had 19 kills, 7 digs and 2 aces; and Ryleigh Timmons contributed 14 digs and 2 aces. Also, Tahra Kennedy had 10 kills, 2 digs and 7 aces; Hunter Timmons had 5 kills, 3 digs, 2 aces and 2 blocks; Taylor Heck had 4 assists; Isabel Beard had 3 digs and 3 aces; Kerri Potteiger had 2 kills and 6 digs; and Kaitlin Provard had 2 kills and 2 blocks.

Shalom won the JV match 2-0.
