Another match, another win for the James Buchanan Lady Rocket tennis team.
The Lady Rockets kept their undefeated record intact, dispatching of Camp Hill 4-1 in a Mid Penn Colonial Division match Tuesday at home.
The victory moves JB to 10-0 and 6-0 in Colonial Division play. It is the first time in coach Terri Beegle’s 11 years that one of her teams has gone this far into the season without a loss.
“It is very exciting right now,” Beegle said. “All the girls are playing well.”
JB faces its stiffest competition of the season Wednesday as it plays at East Pennsboro, which is also undefeated at 8-0 and ranked No. 3 in the District 3 Class AA standings. The Lady Rockets are ranked No. 5.
The win over Camp Hill was a come-from-behind of sorts for the Lady Rockets.
At No. 1 singles, Maggie Strawoet won her first set 6-3, but was trailing 4-2 in the second before rallying for a 7-5 win to take the match.
“Maggie doesn’t show a lot of enthusiasm, but when she started coming back she had the fists a pumping in the air,” Beegle said. “Maggie did great coming back and has really been a leader for this team.”
The other JB team to rally was the No. 1 doubles team of Lindsey Meyers and Kierra Griffith. Meyers and Griffith lost the first set 6-3, but came on strong and took the next 2 sets 6-2 and 6-4.
“Lindsey and Kierra came back strong,” Beegle said.
Also earning team points for the Lady Rockets were Ella Jones (No. 3 singles) and the No. 2 doubles team of Megan Rummel and Ashley Grove.
