Field Hockey 9/13/18 Forbes Road Picks Up Keystone League Win

Forbes Road 7 Huntingdon 0

Waterfall, Pa. – After a very wet week, the Forbes Road Cardinal Field Hockey Team (4-1, 2-0 KL) finally got to play a game under dry, sunny conditions today as they downed Keystone League rival Huntingdon 7 to 0.

After a somewhat, slow start for the Cardinals, FR midfielder Shelby Harnish led off the attack when she rattled the cage with her hard, direct shot launched from just inside the circle, 11 minutes into the game.  Mara Broadwater scored the first of her four goals on a pass sent into her from midfielder, Emma Gelvin, to wrap up the scoring for the first half.

It took 14 minutes into the second half for the Cardinals to get back on the scoreboard.  Within a seven minute stretch to follow, Forbes found the cage four more times.  Broadwater scored two of those goals from rebounding the ball off the goalie pads and another on an assist from Gelvin.  Shortly thereafter, during a scramble in front of the cage, forward Harlie Strait swiped the ball off the goalie’s pads for her first goal of the day.  With just under 3 minutes to play, Madison Hays rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals on a penalty corner pass sent to her by Payton Watkins.
