Warfordsburg, Pa. – The Lady Indians of Southern Fulton improved their early season record to 2-0 with a win at home against Northern Bedford. Kylie Golden recorded both goals and was assisted by Lauren Varner on one of them in the 2-1 victory. Goalkeeper Bailey Burkett had 10 saves for the Lady Indians. The Lady Indians return to action on Saturday, September 8, at 12:00 when they travel to Johnstown Christian Academy.
McConnellsburg 6 Tussey Mt. 0
McConnellsburg, Pa. – The MHS (1-0) girl’s soccer team opened their season by defeating the Tussey Mountain Titans 6-0. Jensen Boehme and Izzy Keefer paced with the Spartan offense with two goals a piece. Kailey Swope and Rebecca Wenschhof each added a goal. Assists came from Izzy Keefer and Lainnie Glenn with one each, while Kailey Swope chipped in with two. The Spartan defense was solid all night only allowing three shots on goal. Madisyn Culler turned away two shots as she recorded her first shut out in goal for the Spartans. The Spartans will host the Conemaugh Township Indians on Saturday at home. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00.
Fannett Metal 2 Mercersburg Academy 1
Willow Hill, Pa. – Fannett Metal (1-0) opened their season with a 2-1 non league win over visiting Mercersburg Academy. Peyton Gesell scored first for Mercersburg Academy. Then,Brynn Hartman stole the ball from a defender and beat the goalie to bring the Lady Tigers even in the first half. Jenna Hoffmann then scored in the second half off of a corner put in by Brynn Hartman for the lead. Fannett Metal will travel to Tussey Mt. on September 12th for a 6:00 start.
