The Greencastle Little League 12U All Stars ran their record to 3-0 with a 12-2 win over Pen Mar in a game shortened to four innings by the 10 run rule In West Pool Play at Carlisle Sunday. The game start was delayed by an hour due to heavy rain and a thunderstorm.
Makayla Jerin went the distance for Greencastle allowing two runs on two hits, striking out seven and walking two.
Pen Mar jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Dylan Morgan had a lead off walk, was sacrificed to second by Jake Martin and scored on an RBI single by Xavier Mata. Greencastle answered with two in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Garrett Decker and a bases loaded walk to J.D. Wolff. Greencastle batted around and scored six runs on four hits in the second inning highlighted by an RBI double by Briggs Remenick and run scoring singles by Logan Shifflet, and Calvin Grams. Pen Mar got a run back in the top of the third on a Morgan double and sacrifice fly by Cory Bare. Greencastle sent ten batters to the plate in the third inning plating four runs on two hits. Wolff hit a two run single, a sacrifice fly by Remenick and an error accounted for the other two runs.
Greencastle will play the only other unbeaten team Newville (2-0) on Tuesday night. Newville had a 9-2 win Sunday afternoon over Gettysburg.
Greencastle 9-10 year old team opened Pool Play with a 18-0 win over Pen Mar at Clary Field.
