Meyersdale 6 McConnellsburg 1

Everett, Pa. McConnellsburg (11-11) was not expected to make it to the District V Class A Softball Championship, but they made school history this afternoon and fell to a very talented Meyersdale team 6-1. Meyersdale outhit McConnellsburg ten to six. Madison Koontz and Matty Ross led the Lady Spartans both going 2 for 4. Lady Spartan Coach Dana Winters commented, “We had opportunities to score, leaving bases loaded 2 times. We just didn’t get the hits when we needed them. Leonard is one of the best pitchers we’ve seen this year. I am very proud of the team for getting to the championship game. First ever District medal for softball at MHS . We are going to work hard the next few days to get ready for States.” McConnellsburg will enter the PIAA State Tournament, which begins on Monday, June 4, when they will travel to District IX to play the District IX Champion.
