SCOTLAND — Chambersburg broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the fifth inning and added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth for a 5-2 win over Central Dauphin on Friday afternoon at Greene Township Park in a Mid Penn Commonwealth contest.
It was the third consecutive win for the Trojans (9-8, 7-5 MPC).
Skylar McLean (pictured above in an earlier game) pitched the first 4 innings for Chambersburg and gave up 5 hits and 2 runs. Austin Kopp (5-2) entered in the fifth and held the Rams scoreless on 2 hits with 2 strikeouts.
The Trojans scored 2 runs in the second inning, with Spencer Seaman plating one with a single.
Eight of the nine Chambersburg starters produced a base hit, and Spencer Hockensmith and Kaden Hoover each went 2-for-3. Hoover, who tripled, Luke Wetzel and Kopp also drove in runs.
The Trojans are still ranked No. 10 in District 3 Class 6A — the final spot in the playoffs — with 3 games left. Chambersburg hosts Mifflin County in a doubleheader Monday starting at 2:30 and plays at Spring Grove on Wednesday.
