CARLISLE — Chambersburg senior distance ace Abby Yourkavitch had a special day Saturday in the Stanley Morgan Invitational at Carlisle.
Yourkavitch won the 800-meter race in 2:16.30, then came back for a first-place finish in the 1600. Her efforts resulted in her being named the Female Athlete of the Meet, and her time of 4:55.4 in the 1600 broke the school record of Sarah Morrison, set in 2007.
In the boys shot put, the Trojans took 1-2, with Brock Harmon winning with a heave of 50-9 and Derek Moore right behind in 48-11.5. Shippensburg’s Nick Gustafson was fourth (46-6).
Those were the only winning performances from area athletes, although several top runners were held out of the competition.
Chambersburg’s Bre’ya Clopper placed third in the girls 400 hurdles (47.54), while on the boys side, Trojan teammates Nate Reed (javelin, 157-2) and Luke Myers (800, 1:58.8) took third in their event.
