The James Buchanan Lady Rockets banged out 16 hits and cruised to a 14-2 win over Susquehanna Township in a non-league softball game Friday.
JB (11-4) scored 3 runs in the first, 4 in the second, 1 in the sixth and closed out with 6 more in the seventh.
“The girls are playing well right now,” JB coach Troy Pittman said. “Our defense has been solid, pitching has been consistent and the hitting is coming around. It’s been a good week, long, but good.”
Getting the offensive support was Lizzie Pittman, who pitched a complete-game 1-hitter, struck out 8 and did not yield an earned run.
Offensively for the Lady Rockets, Alyssa Blair and Jenna Mongold (double, triple) each had 3 hits while Maddie Bailey and Kate Ebersole each had 2. Mongold added 2 RBI and Carly Caron scored 3 runs.
JB’s next game is Monday at Littlestown starting at 4:15
