BASEBALL
Cedar Cliff 18, Chambersburg 5: The Trojans took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but the Colts tied it up in the third, scored 8 runs in the fourth and ended it with 5 more in the fifth to hand Chambersburg a Mid Penn Commonwealth defeat Thursday at Green Twp. Park.

Cedar Cliff totaled 14 hits, and got help from 4 Trojan errors and 5 walks.

Chambersburg (6-7, 5-5 MPC) totaled 10 hits. Aaden Newman had a 2-run single in the first inning and went 2-for-3. Kaden Hoover had his best day at the plate, going 2-for-2. Brady Hughes, Brady Stumbaugh and Spencer Seaman each drove in one run.

Seaman started for the Trojans and left in the third inning with the game tied. Bryson Byers (1-1) was charged with the loss.

BOYS LACROSSE
Hershey 14, Chambersburg 9: Tied at halftime 6-6, the Trojans scored a goal early in the third quarter to go ahead 7-6.

But Hershey scored 8 of the last 10 goals to win a Mid Penn Conference game Thursday and snap a 2-game win streak for Chambersburg (5-8).

“We were tied at the half 6-6, scored a nice man-up goal to open the third to make it 7-6 us,” Trojan coach Paul Flohr said. “But then we started playing patty cake defense and lost the lead.”

Thomas Elia had 5 points on 2 goals and 3 assists for Chambersburg. Grayson Hopple (2 goals, 1 assist) and Hden Ocker (2 goals) also had multiple goals.

In addition, Jake Gordon, Aiden Brechbill and Brandin Cosey each had a goal, and Jace Hopple and Riley Ocker each had an assist.

Tucker Heckman, Nashe Bothe and Gordon each had 4 ground balls, Bothe won 13 of 25 faceoffs and Jarrett Secrist made 7 saves.
