SHIPPENSBURG — At the 92nd Jack Roddick Invitational at Shippensburg University on a beautiful Saturday, athletes from Franklin and Fulton Counties collected a total of 8 gold medals, spread out with two in each division.
McConnellsburg’s Josh Booth (pictured above) was the top area performer. In Class AA boys, Booth won the 110 hurdles in 15.62, and the 300 hurdles in 39.60, and was the runner-up in the 200 dash in 22.25.
In Class AAA girls, a pair of stalwarts each went home with victories. Greencastle-Antrim’s Taryn Parks prevailed over Chambersburg’s Abby Yourkavitch in the 1600, posting a 4:53.31 to the Trojans’ 4:59.96 (shown in photo below). Parks was also second in the 800 with a time of 2:14.28.

Yourkavitch claimed first in the 3200, clocking in at 10:52.04.
In boys AAA, Chambersburg produced a pair of victories, thanks to sprinter Tyeshawn Worrell. He took the top spot in the 100, racing home in 11.03. The Trojans’ 4 x 100 relay team of Keyshawn Jones, Nate Reed, Shane Ambrose and Worrell also claimed first in 43.88 (the Ambrose to Worrell handoff is pictured below).

And in Class AA girls, Mercersburg Academy collected two golds, from Sophia Divone in the 3200 (11:22.67) and Emma Hicks in the 200 steeplechase (8:59.71). Divone also placed second in the 1600 in 5:17.47.
For the Chambersburg girls, who placed sixth in the team standings, Bre’ya Clopper was third in the 300 hurdles and Sydnie Gilbert was fifth in the 100 hurdles. For the Trojan boys, also sixth in the team race, the 4 x 800 relay team of James Merkle, Aaron Maynard, Trentin Overcash and Luke Myers placed third.
Mercersburg had a fourth and a fifth from Alexander Wood, with a fourth in the 200 steeplechase and fifth in the 3200.
For McConnellsburg in AA girls, Hailey Dodson was a two-time placer, finishing third in the shot put and fifth in the discus.
