It was a good old fashioned pitchers duel in Greencastle Friday afternoon and Nathan Starliper made a third inning run standup as the Greencastle-Antrim Blue Devils defeated the James Buchanan Rockets 1-0. Starliper allowed just one hit while striking out 12 and walking one. The Rockets had only three base runners in the game.

The Blue Devils lone run came in the bottom of the third when Reed Scadden tripled down the right field line and Cade McDowell followed with an RBI single to left field.

Remi Spoonhour was brilliant on the mound for the James Buchanan Rockets striking out nine, allowing just three hits and retired the last 11 Blue Devils in order. The only James Buchanan hit came in the second inning from Drew Devotie after the previous batter struck out and reached on a passed ball. Starliper fanned the next batter to record his fourth strikeout of the second inning.
It was Head Coach Eric Shanner’s 100th carrer victory at the helm of the Blue Devils and improved Greencastle;s overall record to 5-3 and 4-2 in the MPC. James Buchanan falls to 3-4. James Buchanan travels to Big Spring on Tiuesday. Greencastle will host Shippensburg on Tuesday.
