McConnellsburg, Pa. Fannett-Metal (2-1, 2-1 SHL, 2-1 ICC) scored early and often against McConnellsburg (O-3, 0-3 SHL, 0-3 ICC) to pick up the 18 to 5 victory. The Lady Tigers first six batters reached base in the top of the first propelling them to a 5 to 0 lead. McConnellsburg scored twice in the bottom of the inning and both teams plated one run in the 2nd to make it 6 to 3 entering the 3rd. In the 3rd inning, Fannett-Metal scored 10 runs to break the game open. The Lady Tigers lit up the stat sheet recording 19 hits. Both Morgan Ritchey and Kassie Holtry had 4 hits a piece for the Lady Tigers knocking in 2 and 6 runs respectively. Claudia Umbrell and Jealee Stouffer each had 3 hits and 2 RBI and Jade Rhodes knocked in 3 runs on 2 hits. Kassie Holtry came on in relief and got the win. The Lady Spartans had 7 hits. Matty Ross went 2 for 2. McConnellsburg Coach Dana Winters commented, ” Errors and communication on the field are two key things we need to work on. ” Fannett-Metal hosts St. James in a non-league Saturday at 1:00 at Fannett Metal. McConnellsburg will host Everett on Tuesday, April 17, at 4:30.
Northern Bedford 16 Forbes Road 2
Loysburg, Pa. The Forbes Road (0-1, 0-1 SHL, 0-1 ICC) softball team was finally able to play their first game but they fell to league rival Northern Bedford in a five inning game sixteen to two. Payton Kendall had 2 hits and an RBI. Harlie Strait struck out three and got the loss. Mara Broadwater, Payton Watkins and Hannah Skiles each had a hit. The Lady Cardinals will host Southern Fulton on Friday at 4:30.
