Southern Fulton 66 Fannett Metal 55
Two very familiar foes met on the campus of The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday afternoon and the Lady Indians of Southern Fulton (19-5) held off the Lady Tigers of Fannett Metal ( 13-12) 66-55. Jessie Covalt led Southern Fulton with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Lindsey Hollenshead had 15points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Kierstyn Morton added 11 points. Ally Hoffman led FM with 15 points. Katie Johns had 13 points and Taylor Coffman added 12. Lady Indian Coach Meagan Mellott commented, “FM shot the ball very well yesterday. We really had to make a conscious effort to close out with a hand up. We fought hard on the glass and really rebounded well, which I think was a big difference maker in the game.” With the win Southern Fulton earned the right to enter the PIAA State Playoffs. On Saturday, March 10, Southern Fulton (5-3) will travel to Warwick High School to play District III runner-up Linden Hall (18-5) at 4:30.
