Shippensburg’s Greyhounds are PIAA bound! The ‘Hounds turned on the defensive effort and shut down a potent Ephrata offense Monday night and came away with a 53-37 win to guarantee a spot in the upcoming PIAA tournament.
Shippensburg has one more game in the District 3 Class 5A tournament on Wednesday. They will take on New Oxford at 5:00pm at Mechanicsburg High School. The winner gets to face the District 12 (Philadelphia area) champion while the loser gets to open against the District 1 champion.
Shippensburg led 11-10 after one quarter against Ephrata nd then hit 14 points in each of the second, third, and fourth quarters to run away from the Mounts.
Carter Van Scyoc again led the Greyhounds with 21 points and got some help from Collin Taylor, who added 12 points. Zach Cullen drained two 3-pointers for the Greyhounds. One downside for the ‘Hounds was the 13 of 24 mark at the foul line.
Brad Dubella had 18 of the Mounts’ 37 points.
