2 Trojans, 2 Hounds earn No. 1 seeds for sectional wrestling

When the District 3 Class 3A Section 3 Tournament begins Saturday morning, four Franklin County wrestlers will try to turn their No. 1 seeds into a first-place finish.

For Chambersburg, senior Drake Brenize is top-seeded at 152 pounds, and sophomore Luke Nichter has earned the No. 1 tag at 170.

Senior Cole Forrester (220) and sophomore Jeffery Russell (113) picked up the top seeds for the Greyhounds.

The Section 3 tourney takes place at Mechanicsburg H.S., starting at 8:30 a.m., and runs continuously through the semifinals and consolation semifinals. After an hour break in late afternoon, the finals will be held. The top four placewinners advance to the district tournament the following week.

Also for Chambersburg, junior Cole Grove (126) and freshman Tate Nichter (145) were seeded No. 2, while junior Seth Runshaw gained a No. 4 seed at 132.

For Ship, sophomore Dylan Ramsey is seeded No. 2 at 120 and senior Sterling Shetter is No. 4 at 152. Greencastle-Antrim is also competing at Mechanicsburg and the Blue Devils’ lone top-4 seed is freshman Jack Miller at 120, a No. 4.

The county’s other Class 3A team is Waynesboro, and the Indians are competing in the Section 4 at South Western. Boro’s seeded wrestlers include junior Matt McCann at 120 (No. 2), junior Bryan Layman at 126 (No. 3) and sophomore Adam Wertz at 145 (No. 4).

In Class AA, James Buchanan will compete at the Section 3 tournament at Susquenita, but the Rockets were shut out of top-4 seeds.
