Cumberland Valley hands Trojan girls a defeat

NEW KINGSTOWN — Chambersburg led heavily-favored Cumberland Valley 5-2 after one period on Friday night in a Mid Penn Commonwealth girls basketball game.

But the Eagles (4-5, 3-3 MPC) solved the Trojans’ defense in the second period, exploding for a 21-7 advantage on their way to a 48-28 victory. Julie Jekot (8) and Abbie Miller (7) led the CV scoring in that quarter, and for the game, with Jekot scoring 16 and Miller 15.

For Chambersburg (4-7, 0-6 MPC), Ashley Adams scored 13 points, including 6 in the second period, and Gabby Lecuona had her season-best total, with 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
