Carlisle used a big second quarter and held off the James Buchanan Lady Rockets to come away with a 46-43 win in the first round of the Big Spring Holiday girls basketball tournament.

Reilly Heinbaugh scored 7 of her 11 points in the first quarter to help James Buchanan (3-4) to a 17-12 lead, but it was all Carlisle in the second quarter as the Thundering Herd outscored JB 19-5.

Carlisle also made 10 trips to the foul line while JB converted 1 of its 2 free throws.

Cass Martin led the Lady Rockets with 13 points. Alexa Adkins paced Carlisle (3-5) with a game-high 16 points.
