NEWVILLE — The Chambersburg boys took first place in 6 events Thursday and earned the team championship in the Bulldog Bash swim meet held at Big Spring High School, while Shippensburg captured the girls team title.
For the Trojan boys, Jacob Greenwood won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.26 and the 500 free in 4:48.45. He also anchored the winning 200 medley relay team (1:43.08) and winning 400 free relay team (3:19.32).
Also for Chambersburg, which piled up 229 points, Avery Barley took the 100 backstroke in 52.95, which was a meet record, and C.J. Pong won the 200 IM (1:59.26). Both were on the relay teams, as well as Michael Johnson on the medley team and Aiden McMillan on the free team.
Nick Garbinski was a winner for James Buchanan, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.60. For Shippensburg, which took fourth, Sam Nonemaker placed in two events and helped the Greyhounds to a second in the medley relay.
In the girls meet, James Buchanan came up with five individual wins to one for Ship, but the Lady Hounds scored more points with lower placewinners and won the team race with 164 points. The Rockets were third with 140.
For JB, Rachel Kimmel won the 200 IM (2:12.82) and breaststroke (1:06.87 — a meet record), Annabelle McCullough captured the 50 free (25.50) and butterfly (59.21) and both swam on the winning 200 medley relay team with Sarah Kimmel and Harley Rife.
Ship got a win from Madison Osanitch in the 200 free in 2:04.48. The Lady Hound team of Osanitch, Teddi Powell, Skyler Ott and McKenna Morris placed second in the 200 free relay.
