Chambersburg roundup, 12/16

BOYS BASKETBALL

Chambersburg 59, Cedar Cliff 41: Cade Brindle exploded for 25 points and Terell Williams had a big fourth quarter, helping the Trojans handle the Colts in a non-league battle of early-season unbeatens at CASHS Field House.

Chambersburg (5-0) held a 36-31 lead after three quarters, with Brindle pouring in 11 points in the third.

But the Trojans pulled away from Cedar Cliff (3-1), outscoring it 23-10 in the final 8 minutes. Williams scored 12 of his 14 points in that time span and Brindle had 7, including a 5-for-6 effort at the foul line.

Chambersburg coach Shawn Shreffler said, “It was a tremendous team win. Joel (Torres) was sick and Tyler (Collier) was in foul trouble, which required other guys to step up. I’m very proud of the contributions everyone made.”

Shreffler was also happy with his team’s defense.

“Cedar Cliff came in playing really well. Their strength is their guard play. I thought we did a great job of limiting their top scorers, Gerald Jarmon (averaging 19 ppg) and Patrick Wiestling (averaging 15 ppg), to 7 and 3 points, respectively. Seth (Brouse) did a great job on Gerald with great help from his teammates.”

Chambersburg led 14-7 after one quarter and 23-15 at halftime.

“When we needed scoring, Cade and Terell answered the call, thanks to the excellent ball movement against their trapping pressure,” Shreffler said. “Tyron (Williams) was outstanding on the boards and threw a couple of Wes Unseld-like outlet passes that led to layups.”

The Trojans get back to Mid Penn Commonwealth play Monday night when they host Carlisle.
